Roots (U4 – U8)

Outdoor 2019

Roots Phase is our preparatory program for all our players aged U4 – U8. In our Roots Phase of program we have 2 stages of development:
 
  • U4 – U6, is our professionally developed and Long Term Player Development (LTPD) compliant entry level into the game. Developed by professionals and delivered by educated & qualified staff coaches to allow us to ensure your child’s introduction is a fun learning experience.
  • U7-U8, is our preparation program for entry into our Core Phase of programming where our players between U9-U12 represent Calgary Blizzard Soccer Club in the city’s minor soccer league (CMSA). Through this stage of our Roots Phase, we will continue with our professionally developed & LTPD compliant approach which allows for the process of identifying our next Calgary Blizzard Soccer Clubs players to represent our club in the city wide minor league (CMSA).

Overview:

  • Curriculum development and directed by our Boys Technical Director and Foundation Phase Director Craig Angus, formally with the Vancouver Whitecaps and New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer (MLS)
  • Led and delivered by educated staff coaches (no volunteers)
  • All sessions held at Inland Athletic Park

Program Highlights:

  • Skill Centre Technical Sessions that incorporates development of Soccer Specific Physical Literacy, Technical & Skill Development linked to a clear and concise club curriculum, Small Sided Games (2v2’s) to encourage development of small group & individual decision making.
  • Blizzard League Games Program (U5-U8’s only)
  • U4-U6’s is Co-Ed
  • ***New for Outdoor 2019 – U7-U8 Girls for Girls Programming – delivered by Females for Females***
  • U7-U8 Boys Programming
